Still here, Still excited! |
Well, I did take a break
from researching more about South America,
learning Spanish and meeting new people.
However, I am still in constant contact
with the wonderful people that I have met
so far. I am also satisfied with the number
of people that I have met so far. I almost
feel if that I meet any more people, it
would take away from the time of getting
to know the ones I have already met. I
talk almost every day with Marcelo, Mauricio
and Rich. I talk about once a week with
Dres and Vinni get caught up quickly with
them and their well being. I hear from
Victor ever so often as he is currently
on vacation in his hometown of Salvador,
Brazil. His internet is limited.
I'm still very excited about my project,
but as of right now, due to my financial
issues, it is looking like I have a better
chance of meeting some of my friends by
them visiting me first here in Chicago.
This is also a dream of mine, so I am definitely
thrilled about such a thing. I know if
it takes 2-3 years, I will still return
the favor by visiting them in their home
land. The best part would be to compare
each others experiences anyway. This project
is not just about and for me... it is also
for them. 50/50. How exciting!
I feel that I did make a big mistake though.
I missed an awesome opportunity to meet
many guys from Mexico, Central and South
America last month when the Gay Games where
in Chicago. Damn, what was I thinking.
Many guys from Chile, Brazil and the sorts
where here, visiting my city. I could have
definitely made some wonderful contacts.
Instead, I was overwhelmed by all the visitors
and passed up a great opportunity. Still,
though I didn't meet anyone individually,
I was still excited to see them at the
games representing their countries. I did
get some video and photos of their presents,
which I may be able to use at a later date
for this project.
So, for the record, I want to say hello
to all the visitors and that I would have
loved to have met you. Maybe, they loved
Chicago so much that they will visit again
on their own and I can meet them still!
Hopefully, they will do a Google search
and find this web site!
More soon! Thanks again for your interest
in my project. Feel free to say hi and/or
leave comments... I am not giving up on
this no matter what!

More Then Meets The Eye |
I'm still here! I have talked
to some amazingly insightful people about
my project locally and feel that what I
am wanting to do is very much possible.
I sometimes get ahead of myself and have
learned that I can make this happen for
me, but first need to make sure I am prepared.
This I already knew, but it has sunken
in a little more now that the initial excitement
has settled. I noticed that there needs
to be some changes in my current life and
lifestyle right now before I can move on
further with this project. This is fine
with me, as I have been feeling quite stagnant
in life anyway. This project is going to
be much larger then what I originally thought,
as it is shaping, changing, refining and
evolving my life as a whole. That being
said, I am still moving on with the project,
just not as aggressively as first wanted
to be.
How exciting!
I'm also very thankful to the people that
have helped me both locally and from afar
so far in my journey to my journey. I have
more things coming, that I am a little
behind on due to a heavy workload I had
this month. Stay tuned!

Still Getting organized |
So far, so good! Still plugging
away by reading, watching videos that are
available online and offline, reading,
chatting online, talking to local people,
and reading :) Other then that, still organizing
my thoughts out on here mainly by providing
more and more information in the 'Learning'
section. I've also have been getting some
valuable information from Skype conversations
about the true culture and how Americans
are generally viewed from the south. Special
thanks to Marcelo, Mauricio, Victor, Dres
and Wil.
More soon, just wanted to check in!

Getting organized |
Well, first I'm glad that
I have started putting my thoughts on paper...
actually here, on the web. Whenever I have
a thought, idea or question, this is the
place I go. I am not only sharing my ideas
with the world, but more importantly organizing
them for myself on here. I'm not even worrying
about how I am being perceived at the moment,
as I know how many organizations (not to
compare myself with) spend so much time
on shaping their words to the public. At
this point I am just jotting down my thoughts
here to reflect on and refine my ideas.
I have so far, just a few weeks into this
project, have accomplished a lot and have
also realized what I haven't accomplished
at all! I have organized a section on my
web site (obviously) and have been talking
to many people, far and near, so I am happy
with that! But, what I haven't done is
started to learn Spanish barely at all.
I really need to take a hour out of my
day to do this, like I have finally started
to take a few hours out of my day to go
to the gym. Also, I haven't done as much
research and reading as I would have liked.
I have picked up a great book that generally
covers all of South America. It's a great
book, but have only spot read, whereas
I am needing to read it cover to cover.
I then plan to buy and read books on Mexico
and Central America and then further my
exploration by reading books that are particular
to the cities and places that I know I
definitely want to visit.
I just realized that I want to share the
books that I am reading, the web sites
that I am visiting and the computer programs
that I am using to learn the languages
and also virtually document my project.
Looks like I best start on another section
on here that I will call, Learning.
That may change, but that is what I am
going to come up with now.
A lot to do, a lot of changes to come...
but so excited!
