I just shot my first videoblog yesterday and have started to encode it. I have access to the great new h.264 video compression codec on my Mac and am dying to use it. However, Quicktime 7 player was only available on the Mac, so people on PCs could not view the video. To my surprise and great timing, today, Apple released a public preview version of Quicktime 7 for the PC! So, I am going to go ahead and use that codec if people like it or not! I’m really excited about this codec, for it has beautiful results with smaller file size… a dream come true for all video people! So, I will have the video available here shortly, I am just playing around with a few different compression rates and then I will upload the video to the Internet Archive, which from what I hear, may take a day or two before I can link to it. We’ll see how it goes. The first time doing anything is always fun, yet unknown to lurking disasters.
